ELSO (Experience Life Science Outdoors) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth of color through environmental education, community engagement, and justice-centered programming. Our Studio Justice program invites young people to imagine and design future communities rooted in equity, sustainability, and creativity.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Cohort Engagement Instructor (CE Instructor) to support the Oregon-based Studio Justice cohort. This role is ideal for someone who excels in communication, coordination, and youth engagement, and who is passionate about creating inclusive, affirming spaces for young people.
We are seeking a Cohort Engagement Instructor (CE Instructor) to support the Oregon-based Studio Justice cohort. This role is ideal for someone who excels in communication, coordination, and youth engagement, and who is passionate about creating inclusive, affirming spaces for young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support internal and external communications with cohort participants, parents, guest speakers, panelists, and team members
- Coordinate logistics for guest professionals and visitors
- Lead and support 8-9 week cohort engagement activities for 15–18 youth (ages 14–20)
- Cultivate a positive and affirming culture that encourages creativity and community visioning
- Teach and model Studio Justice program values, including restorative justice practices
- Work under the guidance of the Lead Instructor and Program Administrator
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate, or GED completion
- Experience designing and implementing curriculum and programing for youth ages 14 – 20
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience working with youth in educational or community settings
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and logistics with professionalism
- Familiarity with restorative justice and youth development principles
- Proficiency with, or willingness to learn, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, Google applications such as gmail, drive, docs, sheets, slides, forms, etc.
- Presentation and instructional software such as Miro and Sketchup
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by the Oregon Department of Education for positions working directly with youth and have a clean driving record in the previous year
